The world’s greatest rock and roll band ever – The Beatles – are credited by numerous mediums and musical references as the best band to ever walk the face of the planet earth. There is no question here as to why or how The Beatles turned so many heads during their shorter (in comparison to bands like The Stones or Aerosmith; shorter meaning the length of time that the band was actually together as a band before they broke up) stint in the music industry. But one thing is for sure: they gave us so many great, timeless tunes that even a 100 years from the band will still be selling records aplenty. One of the other great gifts that the band offered up to the world was “Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band” – the very first conceptual rock and roll album that would later influence entire generations of people, artists, musicians and bands alike!
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band has an amazing love ballad contained within it that was written by Paul McCartney but is credited to Lennon/McCartney called, “When I’m Sixty-Four.” This song is very touching and actually reached more fans than The Beatles could have ever imagined. Why? Because the song spoke more to the age group that was in ‘their’ age group at the time.
“When I’m Sixty-Four” is a love song that talks about a young lover making a promise to his girl that he will still be there for her when they grow older. And, that he wants to grow older with her. Who can’t relate to wanting to fall in love and grow old together with another person? Is that not the entire point of life in general?

I can talk and yap about a love song by The Beatles all that I want…all day long if you please (I love this band). However, it is more poignant to offer you a piece of their musicianship to augment my written offerings. As is the norm – that norm being that I wish to populate these posts with awesome clips and rare footage of The Beatles – I do present to you the video below. If you have never had a chance to listen to this song, I suggest you do. Even nearly forty some-odd years later, this song still speaks to the masses and embodies the human emotion and spirit…and the desire to love and be loved!
